Our Pilot Project
Peacemakers’ Alliance recently received a RSG grant through the Cisco Systems Foundation to help launch technical solutions that expand access to our SEL tools for vulnerable and underserved populations in an affordable and sustainable way. Designed for use in small-group or one-on-one settings, our SEL Learning Deck fosters connection, empathy, communication, and belonging—protective factors that help mitigate the effects of trauma and support positive youth development.
Our pilot project, funded in part through Cisco, seeks to partner with schools, clinicians, and youth- and family-serving organizations interested in implementing the SEL Learning Deck within their existing programs or curriculum over the course of a school year. Participating partners will integrate the tools into their educational or therapeutic practice while providing feedback, observations, and student assessment data to help evaluate impact and improve accessibility and effectiveness.
The SEL Learning Deck incorporates reflective journaling, emotion identification, goal-setting, communication prompts, and creative expression activities designed to strengthen self-awareness, emotional regulation, empathy, and relationship-building skills. The materials are culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and adaptable across age groups and learning environments.
As part of the pilot, participating organizations receive the SEL materials, implementation guidance, and staff training at no cost, helping reduce barriers to access while building capacity for long-term SEL integration in schools and community-based settings.
